COMPUTER CLASSES

Computer Classes
The Center employs certified instructors to teach classes at all levels (beginners, intermediate and advanced) covering Internet and E-Mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and QuickBooks (accounting software program). Students are always welcome to use the computers during opening hours for practice or to complete homework.

Computer classes for seniors take place on Wednesday mornings at 10:00am (Introduction to Computers).

The Aisling Irish Community Center is an accredited US ICDL Test Center. The ICDL course is the US equivalent to the popular European International Driving License (ECDL). We offer the International Computer Driving License certification (ICDL), an international computer qualification designed to assist individuals develop their IT skills and enhance their career prospects. ICDL certification provides successful candidates and prospective employers with proof of proficiency several different aspects of computers - Internet and E-mail, Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, File Management and IT concepts.

FREE ADULT EDUCATION CLASSES

We are delighted to announce a new partnership with Yonkers Pathways to Success/VIVE which provides free adult education for everybody in the community. Registration for the following programs will take place at the Aisling Irish Community Center on Friday, October 7th and Saturday, October 8th - times yet to be confirmed.

EXTERNAL DIPLOMA PROGRAM - EDP offers mature adults an option for earning a Yonkers Public School High School Diploma. This is free of charge and open to NYS residents, 21 years of age and older, who do not have a high school diploma. Candidates do not have to attend class but work independently and meet weekly with an assessor at a mutually acceptable schedule. Once the required skills have been demonstrated, it may take months to no longer than a year to complete the EDP.

GED/NEW YORK STATE HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY DIPLOMA - A course of study with an instructor that prepares a person, over 18 years of age, to take the GED examination. The GED examination tests include: reading; writing; social studies; math; and science. Students are required to achieve 2500 on the Predictor for the GED exam.
