Niall McKenna
25th Anniversary Rockland Ambassador
We are very happy to have Niall McKenna as our 25th Anniversary Rockland County Ambassador. Originally from Carrickroe, Co. Monaghan, Niall comes from a large family of nine children in the Errigal Truagh Parish. Community was a huge part of Niall’s life growing up. His parents, Maura and Hugo, both gave selflessly to others and helped launch the first Carrickroe Community Festival. Niall carries on that legacy of service himself by giving back to the Irish community in New York.
Niall immigrated to America in 1999 but remains connected to his roots through his involvement with the Monaghan Football Club here in NY and the Monaghan Society. He met his wife, Jenny, in Yonkers, and together they have four wonderful children – Olivia, Colin, Rory, and Emily. He also runs his own successful businesses, NMK Carpentry and General Construction.
For Niall, being a part of the Irish community means always helping and looking out for each other, and he exemplifies this so well by volunteering his time at the Rockland GAA. You can find him on the pitch coaching both U13 boys and girls Gaelic football. “Rockland GAA is a very close- knit, supportive club. We look to help each other and the greater community,” he says.
Niall recognizes a similar spirit in the Aisling Center, which he feels ‘fantastic’ about being a part of. He appreciates the work being done to help Irish immigrants as they arrive and feed the homeless in NYC throughout the years. We are honored to have Niall represent us as we celebrate 25 years. Be sure to join him at the Rockland GAA on October 30th for our 6K event and after party.
